I've been having recently issues with my Visual Studio 2013 and the first thing I decided to do is to check for updates and there it was released 8 days ago on 4th of August 2014 VS2013 Update 3.
I've tried to install it and got an error
The hash value is not correct
With a number of different warning and similar issue.
- Move the file to another location
First thing I did was Google search and I've come across similar issue for VS 2013 Update 2 and the suggestion was to move the install file to another location as if folder contain file from previous update then it will give you 'the hash value is not correct', so I did that and checked file properties and click 'unblock', ran as administrator and still got the error.
I've check common issues and workaround and nothing was there, maybe it is not a common one?
- Clear 'downloads' and appdata/temp folders
I've check log file and noticed that it points to original location where the file was download; my 'Downloads' folder and c:\users\emil.glownia\appdata\temp
My install file was in a different location so I decided to clear my 'downloads' and 'temp' files (some remained) and I ran the install again.
Result? Success! Has that fixed my first error? Yes, the Update 3 solved it and I can open Visual Studio and solutions without any warnings or errors.
I don't know which folder was causing the issue so if you are going to try please could you do us all a favor and do it one at a time and post a comment which one is causing the problem?
Didn't work? One of the suggestions I came across was to reinstall VS in case it was on D Drive, however my is on C drive so I didn't try that but may it will work for you.
Hope that helps you.
