In this SSIS Tutorial I will show you how to use Sort Transformation in this article I will focus on Pass Through column. For the purpose of this tutorial I will use SSIS 2012
Other Versions of SSIS:
- SSIS 2012
- This video has been created using SSIS 2012
- SSIS 2008
- The examples we used should work in SSIS 2008
- SSIS 2005
- We suspect that this will work in SSIS 2005 as well
This is Lesson 2 that covers Pass Through Column in SSIS Sort Transformation.
The Pass Through Column in Sort Transformation allow us to make selected column available after the Sort Transformation without having to sort it and in this video we give several examples.
I have got OLE DB Source with connection to AdventureWorks2012.
I have got some SQL with limited data.
I will use Sort Transformation and in this article I will focus on Pass Through column which means that the column witch we select in Pass Through will be enviable after Pass Through Transformation.
So let me show you what that means. In this case I sorted ProductKey and I selected the rest column as Pass Through which means they are not sorted but they will be available after the sort transformation.
I use derived column and preview the data I will unable data viewer and run the package.
You can see that all of the columns are visible and the data is sorted by ProductKey.
Lets go to Data Path. The why we will check Pass Through is using the Edit. This Data Path is between Sort and Derived Column so we can use Metadata to see which column are available, in this case all columns are available.
