To set SSIS property for instance variable you need property path and set the value. Syntax varies slightly depending on situation and in this blog I will add all different scenarios when I use property paths.
I'll start with an example of setting up a job that will execute SSIS package and set variable value at run time.
My master package is able to execute multiple "applications" (with different packages) and I need to pass application name at run time. To do that I set up a job, set to run SSIS package and in Set Values tab I provided the following values:

NOTE: In the example I above I used User:: which I believe is the most common "namespace" for setting package variable
Sometime you need to pass both PropertyPath and value at the same time and I believe the example below should do the trick:
