In this Excel Tutorial I will show you how to use Mid Function using Excel 2010.
Mid Function extract characters from the middle part of district. I will show base on the example.
In my invoice below, I would like to returnee only my Name. In my example it will be Katie. To do that I will use Mid Function.
I go to Formulas bar type equal, Mid. I open the parenthesis and below you can see in the brackets are arguments.
In the first argument I have to type text and I select cell with text. At the picture below you can see this step.
Next I place comma and start number. In my example it will be six (6) - I count as well space. Place comma one more time.
Now, I type number characters which I want to returnee. It will be five (5). I close parenthesis and type ENTER.
Mid Function returnees me my Name from miss Katie Glownia text.
You can find Mid Function if you go to Formulas tab an click on Text Function. In the middle of the text I will select Mid function. I get the function Arguments window.
I select arguments. In first text I type the same like in previous example Name.
In starting position six (6) and in number character five (5). Click ENTER. and I get exactly the same result like in previous example.
