In this Excel Tutorial I will show you how to use Len Function using Excel 2010.
Len Function returnees the number of character in a text. I will show base on the example.
I will returnee the number of characters of my Name. To do this I go to Formula bar type equal, Len and open parenthesis - as you can see below Len function has only one argument text. Next I just select My text and close parenthesis.
My result are thirteen (13) characters.
Now, I will check what will happen when I will add space or remove the space.
I will add one more space at the beginning-in the middle-at the end. Below, red lines show us the spaces.
As you can see the number of character was change from 13 to 16 - because Len function included spaces.
In my example I have three more characters.
You can find Len Function if you go to Formulas tab select Text function collect and in the middle of the list you can find Len Function. I select this and I get the Function Arguments window.
In function Arguments window I select Text argument the same like before and click OK.
Picture below, show you this step.
I get exactly the same result like in previous example sixteen (16).
I hope this Excel Tutorial was helpful.
