In this Excel Tutorial I will show you how to use IF function in Excel 2010.
Function if required a condition that is evaluated to either true of false. If function allows us to specified on expression or a value for both true or false arguments. I will show you base on the example.
In this table I have invoices information and I would like to find out if Country is UK - if yes then place 20 % VAT. Other wise place 0 Vat.
I will go to formula bar, type equal and Function IF. Next I will select insert function (fx).
In a new window - Function argument I can select an argument. You can see that each argument has a description at the bottom.
First I will select logical test - it will be in column Country - first cell UK. Next I select equal and in double quotes (") UK.
In value_if_true I will select 0.2 and in value_if_false I will select 0. I click OK.
For the first row in the table for UK - Vat will be 20 %. You can see also that only in two column I have 20 %.
You can find If function if you will go to Formulas tab - click Logical and there you can see IF Function, just click it. You will get the same window where you can select arguments.
I hope this Excel Tutorial was helpful.
