Future of Power BI
It's likely Power BI is going to be one of the most popular keyword in the upcoming years as it replaced Excel "ETL" (Get and Transform) and it competes with IT Driven business intelligence solutions that typically use data warehousing methodologies and that we can expect more business driven solutions that are isolated or tactical.
At the same time Power BI is incorporated into Enterprise Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing project and it's likely to be one of the most desired skill in a job.
Power BI Career Paths
We have several starting career roles which are Power BI Analyst (Typically Business Driven Solutions) and Power BI Developer (Typically IT Driven solutions). Once you gain the experience you can continue on technical path and becone a BI Developer so together with SQL Server BI Stack or Azure BI tools, or you can go into other roles like Project Manager, Architect, Consultant, Trainer or higher position Head of BI or CTO.
It is a good idea to go through job portals and review actual job descriptions that will give you a better understanding of roles and required skills, as Power BI is used in various roles and often with related skills.
Power BI Job Portals
When searching for career opportunities it's good to know the most popular IT portals that contains Power BI jobs and here is a list of job portals that I use in UK:
It might also be worth signing up to other job portals as sometimes recruiters search for a CV instead of posting a job on a job portal.
Power BI CV
A good idea is to have a well written CV that is well balanced and gives you both opportunity for an interview and also is accurate so during an interview you have higher chances to get the job, and this is one example of what I can cover during coaching sessions I offer.
